in the area of Performing Arts

Background
Wesley Performing Arts Centre believes that it is important to encourage and create opportunities for people who live in our region to develop their talents in the performing arts.  In memory of Richard Morris and his extraordinary contribution to the Performing Arts in Horsham, under the banner of the Wesley Performing Arts Centre, family and friends have established this Memorial Scholarship. The intention of the Scholarship is to support young people to succeed in their chosen field within the performing arts continuing Richard's commitment to nurturing young talent.

Auspiced by the Weight Family Foundation, the Richard Morris Memorial Scholarship invites applications from residents of Western Victoria for the opportunity to receive a scholarship up to the value of $1000 to support and encourage development in the performing arts.

Unsuccessful or previous applicants are encouraged to reapply giving details of development since their last application.

 

Application procedures

Applications will be considered by individuals in the area of: -


  • Acting

  • Musical Instrument

  • Theatre Technician

  • other Performing Arts related activities

    A Young Encouragement Award will also be offered to one applicant between 14 and 17 years of age.

    Winner(s) will be contacted by phone, and all applicants are required to attend the concert on November 19 at Wesley Performing Arts Centre for the official announcement of the Award.


    Application Criteria

    Please provide the following information in a one page application.
    Be careful to address each point directly, clearly and concisely:

    • details of your work or study in the performing arts area;

    • what you are currently doing;

    • tell us about your passion for the performing arts

    • why you are applying for this funding opportunity

    • where and how you will use the grant if successful

    • how you aim to achieve your goals in the performing arts area

    in addition please provide:

    • contact details for two referees with first hand knowledge of your work in the performing arts.
